Superior Seating.
For remarkable seating comfort the Eddie Bauer, King Ranch and Limited Expedition MAXs feature standard heated and cooled leather front captain’s chairs with power adjustments. A 2-driver memory system simply remembers how to keep you comfortable behind the wheel, saving and recalling preferred seating positions.
 
Close at Hand.
Standard across all models is Expedition MAX’s new centre console featuring a floor-mounted shifter and integrated cupholders.
 
Entertainment for All.
For those with an ear for music the 2008 Expedition MAX is available with an AM/FM in-dash MP3 capable six-CD changer audio system. A plug-and-play audio input jack and a factory-installed SIRIUS satellite radio are standard*. SIRIUS offers your pick of digital quality channels – including 100% commercial-free music, world-class sports, news, talk and entertainment options and does it from coast-to-coast.

Disappearing Act.
At the touch of a button three rows of seats turn into two. Standard on Eddie Bauer, King Ranch and Limited models, the PowerFold™** flat-folding third row seat folds into the floor with a push of a button; Press again and the seatbacks unfold to provide comfortable seating for up to 3 adults.

Power
Silence is Golden.
Expedition MAX’s interior is all the more appealing when you realize that you’re enjoying it in such relaxing quiet. In fact, this is the quietest Expedition MAX ever*. To help further isolate you and your family from road noise, we used new materials in Expedition MAX’s headliner and dash panel in addition to class-exclusive Quiet Steel® laminate in the dash panel and oil pan. An acoustic laminate windshield and thick side glass also help reduce wind noise in particular. The result of all this hard work? You can use your inside voice to address 3rd-row passengers from the driver’s seat, and vice versa.

The Beast Within.
The 2008 Expedition MAX houses an efficient V8 engine with a 3-valve head design that maximizes its energy to give you a mighty 300 hp and 365 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s coupled with a smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission providing a terrific launch feel. Expedition MAX’s powertrain system is also designed to significantly reduce emissions as compared to the previous generation. Smog-forming emissions have been reduced by 55%, hydrocarbon by 42%, and nitrogen oxide by 65%.
 
MAX Pulling Power.
Expedition MAX gives you the capacity to tow up to 3969 kg (8750 lbs.)* of boat, recreational trailer or cargo and still seat up to eight people in full comfort. Getting in and out of the rearmost seats is simple thanks to larger second-row doors and rear wheel wells that don't intrude into the doorway.

Safety Comes First.
The safest Expedition MAX ever* makes it easy, with standard front-seat side airbags and our 3-row Safety Canopy ™ System joining our class-exclusive Personal Safety System® (PSS). The Safety Canopy System features side-curtain airbags that are larger than on the previous generation, and help provide protection for all 3 rows of outboard-seated occupants in certain types of side-impact events.

Personal Safety System®.
The innovative PSS uses a network of sensors to help enhance protection for the driver and front passenger in certain frontal collisions. It customizes the deployment of Expedition MAX’s dual-stage front airbags based on several criteria, including the driver’s-seat position, whether the front safety belts are in use, and the overall severity of the impact*.

Drive
Smooth Control.
Expedition MAX’s standard Control Trac® 4 wheel-drive system features a convenient 4x4 AUTO mode that helps sense when you’re driving on a loose or slippery surface (like gravel or snow) and automatically optimizes traction by transferring power to the appropriate wheels. The Off-Road Package*, optional on XLT, adds black tubular step bars and skid plates to help protect the engine, transfer case and fuel tank.

Built-In Stability.
AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control) can help in many real-world situations, such as when you’re making an emergency maneuvers to avoid something on the road; driving on slippery surfaces like snowy, muddy, wet or gravel roads; or even just traveling on uneven surfaces, such as in construction zones.*

*Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. It’s always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.
   
Trail Happy.
